History

Founded in 1995 by Mrs Pidial, Fit-U Garment Ltd began its operation with a labor force of 20 machine operators with an overall output of 5,000 - 8,000 units per month. Having developed the required competence and know-how in this ever-changing sector, the Company embarks on the new journey of exporting. Though hard to adjust to this strategy, the Company managed to survive by developing its own range of knitted products including T-shirts, polo shirts, lady wear, baby wear and jackets. Over the late 1990s, Fit-U Garment started participating in a number of road shows across the world while conducting personalized meetings with overseas customers to develop a client base. Batch manufacturing and high value addition became the core competence of Fit-U which, even in the era of the present economic recession, enables the Company to thrive in the market. These strategic orientations coupled with quick response to market requirements have proved to be effective where Fit-U Garment received the SMIDO 1st Winner Export Award in 2004. The Company achieved MS ISO 9001:2008 certification in 2010 and has evolved into a reliable high quality manufacturer for knitted and woven garments towards the export market. While manufacturing well-known brands, Fit-U Garment has built a good reputation for its quality garments, on-time delivery and distinctive service. Today it is the first Medium-size firm in Mauritius to be WRAP Accredited where it currently employs about 200 workers and exports more than 100,000 units monthly to countries like France, England, Spain, South Africa, USA and Reunion Island.

Fit-U Garment Ltd is one of the most successful textile factories in Mauritius when it comes to quality. Certified with ISO 9001:2008, we supply the latest trendy garments in jersey-wear across the world; taking up the challenge of the ever-changing evolution in style and fashion. Being specialist in added value clothing, the company puts more emphasis towards the niche market, targeting mostly the middle to upper market. Through a passion-driven board of management and a motivated team of professionals, Fit-U Garment is awarded the SMIDO 1st Export trophy for its excellent efficiency in trade and is lately WRAP Accredited.

Renowned for working with well-known brands, especially Sports Wear and Medical Apparel, Fit-U Garment offers a variety of cut and sewn garments for men, ladies, kids and babies. Products vary from basic t-shirts, sweat shirts and rugby/polo shirts to more complicated clothing with embellishment such as Printing, Embroidery and Washing.

We work on a variety of fabrics from plain to stripes, light to heavy, basic to highly refined.

Corporate Responsibility

The concept of Social Responsibility is fairly new in the world of business; yet essential to adopt in the textile industry to ensure social welfare at large in terms of both human and environmental responsibility where thus arises the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

Fit-U Garment Ltd is of no doubt dedicated in manufacturing its products in socially and ethically sound conditions. The company bases its CSR policy under the framework and guidelines of the Fair Labor Association (FLA) which sets its code of conduct upon the International Labour Organization (ILO, United Nations) standards. This is to assure that Fit-U Garment pledges to humanely treat all its employees, providing them with adequate compensation and protecting their rights while also complying with local laws including the Labour Act, the EPZ Labour Welfare Fund Act, the Remuneration Act and others.

We find it vital to provide our employees with a safe and healthy work environment. We believe that a healthy worker has more to contribute to ensure better quality products. Thus it is in our Company Policy to make all those working on floors to wear their protective equipment. During working hours, we always have First-Aiders and Fire Fighters on our company premises for the safety of our employees. Assessed for Social Compliance in 2012, the company passes the external audit with no problem.

Our Go Green Concept Fit-U Garment Ltd has an Environment Policy that not only emphasizes on the company’s internal environment but also on its external surrounding. In the process of our Sustainability Development, we do our best to save energy where possible. Our machines have frequent sound testing to avoid any kind of Noise Pollution. Like the ones mentioned, we also implement further processes to contribute to ecological evolutions. It is in the Company’s plan to use solar energy for lighting, warm water and air conditioners in the near future.
